BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

 

CHURCH STAFF: Stephen Kendrick has been associate teaching pastor at Sherwood Baptist since 2001. He oversees the church’s prayer ministry, directs major ministry events, teaches an adult Sunday school class and leads The Great Adventure, an adult discipleship program he developed. Stephen also fills in preaching in the senior pastor’s absence. www.sherwoodbaptist.net

 SHERWOOD PICTURES: Stephen and his brother Alex helped Sherwood Baptist establish Sherwood Pictures in 2003. In all Sherwood movies, Stephen is co-writer and producer. He also works with Provident Films developing marketing and Bible study resources for churches in conjunction with Sherwood movies. Facing the Giants played in more than 1,000 theaters after its September 2006 release—and grossed more than $10 million in box office receipts. The Giants DVD was later released in 14 languages, in 56 countries, and on every continent. More than 6,500 churches have used the movie for ministry and community outreach. On Feb. 22, 2007, the Georgia State House of Representatives and Senate read a resolution honoring Sherwood Pictures and Sherwood Church for the success and positive impact of Facing the Giants.

 FREEDOM FESTIVAL: Stephen developed and directs South Georgia’s Freedom Festival. Sponsored by Sherwood, this communitywide event draws local military and community sponsors to give families a safe environment to celebrate national and religious freedoms during the week of July 4. In 2007, under Stephen’s leadership, t 60 teams and 630 volunteers hosted an estimated10,000 people from the community. www.thefreedomfestival.com

INTERVIEWS: Stephen has been interviewed by FOX and FRIENDS, CNN, ABC World News Tonight, At Home Live, The Washington Post, American Profile Magazine, and on numerous radio shows around the country including Atlanta Talk Radio, American Family Radio, HIS Radio, Moody Radio in Chicago, and by the Ticket Stubbs movie review team in North Georgia.

 PREVIOUS WORK: Before joining the Sherwood staff, Stephen was a youth minister at Roswell Street Baptist in Marietta, Ga. He founded Next Level Clubs in the Cobb County school system, which met on campuses to help students develop spiritually. He was contracted to teach abstinence in the public school system by the Cobb County Commission for Children and Youth Services and was also a featured speaker for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes clubs in almost all 40 public middle schools and high schools in Cobb County. In 2006, Stephen was a featured speaker at the San Antonio Christian film festival and Georgia’s Youth Evangelism Conference.

 EDUCATION: Stephen graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. He currently is working toward a Masters of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
